Dr Pamela Lawson (CPsychol)North London Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy

Qualifications and Experience

I am a chartered psychologist, having completed five years of postgraduate training at Metanoia Institute. I hold a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy (DCPsych) by Middlesex University, accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute. I am a registered supervisor with the British Psychological Society and a qualified EMDR therapist having trained with Alexandra Richman (EMDR Training, Parts 1-3).

I have experience working with adults and young people across a variety of community settings. I was an assessor and senior team member of a local bereavement charity for over 6 years. I also worked at a women’s health service with survivors of trauma, abuse and domestic violence and two community mental health settings offering support to those with complex mental health needs. I worked as the clinical services manager and supervisor for a school counselling service for two years. More recently, I have worked in the NHS as a mental health clinician, teaching mindfulness to patients in primary and secondary care, and as a student counsellor in higher education. I currently run a busy private practice, working online and in-person.

I am originally from Boston (USA) and studied and worked in France and Italy before settling in the UK some years ago. Previous to my psychology training, I worked in the fields of translation and education. I therefore bring a wide and rich life experience to my work.
