Clinical Supervision

"Supervision is a joint endeavour in which a practitioner with the help of a supervisor, attends to their clients, themselves as part of their client practitioner relationships and the wider systemic context, and by so doing improves the quality of their work, transforms their client relationships, continuously develops themselves, their practice and the wider profession." (Hawkins and Shohet, 2012).

I supervise psychological therapists and trainees working in a wide range of settings. As an integrative supervisor, I tend to adopt a holistic perspective rather than formulating problems from a single modality. For example, I often take into account attachment and developmental history, contribution of trauma, existential life issues, socio-cultural issues, neuroscience and relational factors. I am fully trained and qualified in my supervision work and registered with the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS).

One of my areas of speciality is providing clinical supervision to school-based counsellors working in secondary, sixth form and higher education. I have over ten years experience working in the field of school counselling and have conducted doctoral research on therapeutic boundaries in inner-city schools. I currently work as a student counsellor in higher education and have a particular interest in the application of mindfulness-based approaches for student well-being.
